Nicolini conservatory in Piacenza and organ, harpsichord and chamber music at the Schola Cantorum in Basel. Privately he studied conducting. During his studies in Basel he deepened his research on performance practice with historical instruments and the evolution of orchestral sound over the centuries.<\/p>\n<p>As a musical assistant, he collaborates with some of the most important conductors; the collaboration with Ren\u00e9 Jacobs is particularly long and fruitful, introducing him to the world of baroque and classical opera.
